I’m starting to see some big furniture companies finally go away from the matching bedroom set (where the bed, nightstand, dresser, mirror, and chest of drawers all look the same). I always say you should mix it up. For example, if you have an upholstered headboard, use wood side tables and an interesting dresser. Your designs will show more depth if the pieces you use aren’t so matchy-matchy. But here I’ll show you how to dress up your matching set, designer style, using decor and your mirror.
The first thing I did was detach the mirror from the back of the dresser. I drilled some new hooks on the back and hung it just a few inches above the dresser. It already looks so much better detached from each other.
For decor, I started by placing a vintage, medium sized terra cotta pot on the left side of the dresser. I added an olive stem for height. Our Vintage Turkish Pots would also make a great size piece here.
Next, I used our new Leather Handled Long Tray in the Natural color to add a dark and light contrast with the dresser. This also functions well on the dresser to keep all my perfumes and jewelry together.
Last, I placed two framed pieces of artwork on the right side to balance everything out. They both have dark tones to keep a consistent scheme.
I’m so happy with how my dresser turned out. I decided to stay simple with the decor which keeps a cleaner space. I hope this encourages you to change things up with your decor. Tell me how you’re going to refresh your space in the comments below. xo!
